Of the 94 LEED-certified new construction and green renovation residential buildings in New York City, downtown boasts the most. Not too shabby. Twenty-five percent of green housing stock in the city is concentrated along the High Line in West Chelsea and in Battery Park City. In fact, Battery Park City — which is home to the city's first LEED-certified residential building, The Solaire — is so committed to going green that, since 2000, it's required all new buildings to be a minimum of LEED Gold certified.
