Simonton StormBreaker Plus Patio Doors
The StormBreaker Plus line of impact-resistant, vinyl-framed sliding doors reach up to eight feet high and span an opening of 12 feet. The doors come in two- and three-panel configurations, with nine stock sizes in addition to custom sizes. They're made with one pane of tempered glass and one of impact-resistant laminated glass, which the company says enables the doors to stand up to fierce weather conditions in the manner of a car windshield: "If the flying object fractures the glass, the laminated glass will remain intact within the window frame and protect the home from becoming pressurized." And these days, don't our homes have enough pressure?
Glass package options are available to meet Energy Star guidelines. Fiberglass hideaway screens and stainless steel hardware come standard, and accessory items include jamb extenders, dry wall returns and a surround flange. See? There's another new phrase! "Surround flange..." Go ahead, say it. Don't you love how that sounds?
