Hamilton Heights Gets a Boost From Broadway
April 14, 2016 — New cachet for the neighborhoods around Hamilton Grange.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical “Hamilton” is a certified smash on Broadway. Now its popularity is rippling to the northern reaches of Manhattan, luring crowds to Alexander Hamilton’s home on West 141st Street, Hamilton Grange, and lending new cachet to the Hamilton Heights and Washington Heights neighborhoods.
Hamilton’s legacy in the area was the hot topic at the recent kickoff of the Real Estate Board of New York’s 2016 Uptown Open House Expo, where Kevin Draper of New York Historical Tours pointed out that Hamilton was drawn to the area for its rural setting and river views, DNAinfo reports. The quest for space and views, it turns out, began in New York City long before the 21st century.
Draper will be speaking again on Sunday, April 17 at an Expo open house event at 790 Riverside Drive, not far from Hamilton Grange.
