A Hipsterrific Williamsburg Amenity
April 19, 2016 — Condo conversion to feature a “jam room” for musicians.
The amenities race in New York co-ops and condos just got ratcheted up another notch. A rental-to-condo conversion in Williamsburg, Brooklyn will feature every hipster’s dream – a soundproof “jam room” for musicians – plus a screening room, a cafe, fire pits and a green wall in the lobby with 3,500 plants, the New York Times reports. All this in addition to the existing gym with East River views, children’s playroom and communal rooftop.
The question becomes: will anyone ever want to leave this building?
Designed a century ago by the architect Cass Gilbert, who also did the Woolworth Building, the block-long riverfront warehouse was converted to 338 rental units in 2010. Now that star architect Morris Adjmi has upped the bar on amenities, studio to 3-bedroom apartments will sell for about $535,000 to $3 million.
“There aren’t any condos on the waterfront around here,” says Asher Abehsera of Livwrk, co-owner of the building. “It’s a chance to own a relic in the neighborhood.”
A relic with a jam room and fire pits and a lobby wall made of thousands of plants.
