Eric Trump Slams “Rogue” Upper West Side Condo Owners

In a burst of filial loyalty, Eric Trump has come out swinging against the “rogue” condo owners who want to remove the T-word from the facade of the Trump Place condominium at 200 Riverside Boulevard, the West Side Rag reports. 

“There are hundreds of residents who purchased property in 200 Riverside Boulevard because of the name and world-class service that it has consistently delivered from day one,” Eric Trump says in response to a question from Washington Post reporter David Fahrenthold, which the latter posted on Twitter. “I will always fight vehemently against rogue individuals not only to protect our incredible owners but also the legacy of a true visionary who did so much to shape the New York City skyline.” 

It’s a safe bet that Eric Trump, interim head of the Trump Organization, was not referring to Robert Moses. Those “rogue” owners comprise 63 percent of the unit-owners at Trump Place who, like the residents at three neighboring buildings, voted to remove the Trump name from their facade. But in January the Trump Organization threatened legal action against the board at 200 Riverside Boulevard – even though the company does not own the building, but merely manages it. The family name on the wall is part of a licensing agreement that generates no income for the Trump Organization.

Proving that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and that he has a firm grasp of alternative facts, Eric Trump continued: “Long before politics, my father was responsible for the development of the ‘West Side Yards,’ which became known as the most ambitious and successful large-scale development project ever undertaken in New York.” Say what?

A judge was supposed to hold a hearing on the name removal on Tuesday, but the hearing has been postponed until May 3. Mark your calendar and hold your breath. 

In a very un-Trumpian bit of understatement, the Post’s Fahrenthold concluded: “Trump isn’t very popular in NYC.”
