Barco Blaster
April 23, 2010 — Wotta load o' hot air! Literally. In our ever-vigilant efforts to help lower co-op / condo liability costs, we've come across this New Product, which is so all-its-own we could find no better name for this type of device than what the company calls it itself: a blaster. OK, so it's industrial blow dryer to quickly dry out mopped floors, wet mats and other potential slip-and-fall hazards. But which would you rather own — an industrial blow dryer or a BLASTER??!! Especially since it does a lot more than just dry walkways.
This latest handy handheld from Illinois' venerable Barco Products, a division of Geneva Scientific, cuts drying time in half, says the company — which itself has cut the price of this device by one-third by offering a buy-two-get-one-free promotion. (It retails for $228,85.) Available in subdued gray or bright-alert yellow, the Blaster is designed not only to dry wet mats, carpets and floors, but also freshly washed or painted walls. And speaking of paint (or oil or bleach), you can also use it to ventilate fume-filled areas. Flip a switch, and the Blaster can cool down overheated machinery areas and confined work spaces.
Useful as well for speedy clean-up of broken pipes, plumbing overflows and leaky roofs, the 32-pound Blaster has a 3/4 horsepower motor with three fan speed — with the highest, true to the product's name, blasting out air at a very strong 2,450 CFM (cubic feet per minute. Think about that. It's a half-mile of air....) You can switch among three operating angles for its 18-inch wide air path. Compact and with a durable polyethylene housing, the Blaster has a molded cordwrap that holds a 25-foot electrical cord.
So, the next time you have a really bad water spill, you don't have to cuss or curse — just say, "Blast it!"
