ITT Monitoring's PumpSmart PS200 v.5 Pump Control

Water flows. It can't help it. Put it in a tank on your roof, it flow down your pipes. Put it in a pump, it flows out your faucet. So, water flows — that's not the problem. The problem is when water isn't flowing right. And since water in a building usually flows inside opaque metal pipes, it's not easy to tell when your system's suffering from what plumbers call dry run (no fluid left to be supplied to the system), minimum flow (a trickle) or runout (your guess is as good as ours. Dammit, Jim, I'm an editor, not a plumber.)

Until we as a species develop X-ray vision, then, the best way to monitor your building's water-flow for optimum efficiency is to use a pump control like this industrial-strength from ITT Monitoring — the PumpSmart PS200 v.5. Besides looking snazzy, it combines process control and pump protection, and comes with pre-programmed pressure, flow and level control, among other applications. Its many other features include a Pump Wear Monitor," which regularly checks your pump's performance. Our favorite feature: Flow Economy, which measures how much fluid you pump moves with one kiloWatt of energy, similar to the fuel-economy ratings of cars.

The PS200 is a modular component of a whole blamed PumpSmart system, but it also works on its own. No suggested retail price is available ; there's a "Get a Price Quote" page at the local New York City-area distributor, below.
