The company has begun offering a line of EcoSmart LEDs including a 40-watt equivalent with a 50,000 hour expected lifetime (Model ECS 19 WW 120) that retails for $18.47, one of the lowest prices yet seen for this type of product. There's also the 60W-equivalent Model ECS 30 WW FL 120, which retails for $39.97, and the 75W-equivalent Model ECS 38 WW FL 120 (below), which goes for $44.97. Us, we need a good 100W bulb to be able to read comfortably, but we'll assume that's coming.
The Home Depot plans to offer different types of fixtures for these LED lights, including accent lighting, track lighting, room lighting and outdoor spotlights, and says all its lights are fully dimmable. You can currently buy them at HomeDepot.com, and they're scheduled to be in presumably all 2,244 stores by the end of September.
So as your co-op or condo prepares to refurbish your hallway, lobby, outdoor and other lights, it might be time to get the LED out ... and then properly install them.
